Žarko Kovač gave a talk at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts titled Towards analysis ready primary production data. The talk was given during the conference Bio-Physical Processes in the Adriatic Sea.
The presentation spoke about the need for access to datasets on marine primary production, the ongoing efforts in the PHOTOCLIM project directed towards curating such datasets and enabling ease of access to data. The aim is to provide analysis ready data, defined as data that have been processed to a minimum set of requirements and organized into a form that allows immediate analysis with a minimum of additional user effort. Accurate information on primary production is essential in ecosystem studies and such data are much needed.
The 2nd Scientific Conference on Bio-Physical Processes in the Adriatic Sea was held on February 6-7, 2025, at the Library of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The conference featured 14 invited lectures and a roundtable discussion, focusing on "Managing Protected Areas – A Dialogue Between Science and Practice." The organizing committee included Dr. Jakov Dulčić, Academician Mladen Juračić, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kristina Pikelj, Prof. Dr. Zrinka Ljubešić, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sunčica Bosak.
Invited speakers and participants included scientists and experts from the Institute for Nature Protection (Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition), University of Zagreb (Faculty of Science, Faculty of Civil Engineering), University of Zadar (Department of Ecology, Agronomy, and Aquaculture), University of Pula (Faculty of Natural Sciences), University of Split (Faculty of Science), Ruđer Bošković Institute, the Marine Research Society and the Brijuni National Park Public Institution.
